Enrichment and Super-Curricular

Sixth Form pupils will have the opportunity to sign-up for opportunities such as the following:

  • The Social Contract
  • The Pupil Council, Pupil Ambassadors , the Prefect system and Head pupil
  • Peer Mentors
  • Drama, Music, Sports, Debating society and various clubs
  • Future Leaders programme in collaboration with Redbridge
  • Duke of Edinburgh
  • NCS scheme
  • Higher Education visits/fairs and taster lectures and seminars
  • Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)
  • Work Experience placement in Year 12

We are always looking at ways to widen our enrichment opportunities, as we understand the importance of supporting pupils to widen their experiences outside of the classroom.  We also encourage participation in the wider life of the school.

To help boost your portfolio of experience, we encourage pupils to consider super-curricular activities.  Set yourself some goals, for example it could be to watch a relevant Podcast or TED talk once per week, or to boost your wider reading around your areas of interest by reading a new book or article each half-term. There are many different experiences you could reflect upon. Some of the main ones include:

  • Reading (book, article etc)
  • Podcast/online lecture/TED talk
  • EPQ
  • Summer school/Taster Day
  • Attending a cub/discussion
  • Writing an article/essay competition
  • Online course (e.g., MOOC from Unifrog)
  • Giving or seeing a presentation
  • Work experience/volunteering

What is important, is that you reflect and communicate: what you learnt / found interesting and what it prompted you to do next (another super-curricular activity for example).
